Points are awarded across two main categories, reflecting an applicant’s skills, qualifications, and work experience.

Job Offer & Wage
In addition to meeting the points requirement, applicants must secure a skilled employment offer from a New Zealand employer. The role must meet the current definition of a skilled job and the salary must be at or above the median wage set at the time of application.

Basic Eligibility Criteria
To ensure that migrants can successfully contribute to and integrate into New Zealand society, applicants must also meet the following requirements:
- Character: Applicants must meet good character standards.
- Health: Applicants must be in good health to live and work in New Zealand.
- English language: Evidence of English proficiency is required.
- Age: Applicants must be 55 years or younger at the time of application.
